Advertising
We run advertising in every issue of relevant PennWell magazines, promoting new titles and subjects that tie in with the editorial focus, as well as special selections. When appropriate, advertising is purchased in journals published by other companies.
Catalogs
Full-color catalogs are produced 8-12 times per year. At least once a year these catalogs promote every product we carry; the others offer new and best-selling titles or special sale offerings. In each case, every title is represented with a full-color photo, descriptive paragraph, and a complete table of contents. Book review endorsements and author biographies are often included.

All PennWell products are listed on our Internet site for 24/7 selling. Titles are arranged by industry and type, accompanied by full descriptions. This address is prominently displayed everywhere to promote its use.
Reviews and releases
We send a review copy and a media release of each new title to appropriate trade journals, radio and TV stations, and academia. Once a review has been published, a copy of that review is sent to the author and quotes are selected to use in future promotions.
E-mails and newsletters
We distribute a quarterly e-mail newsletter to each industry's targeted buyers and prospects. The newsletter includes information on new titles, articles by best-selling authors, upcoming shows and locations, and many other items deemed to be of interest. E-mails are also used for special promotional opportunities.
NBIs and one-shots
Once a month New Book Information (NBI) sheets are distributed to all resellers. When appropriate, special-targeted promotions, or one-shots, are produced to increase sales of a particular title.
Shows and conferences
PennWell's IPG exhibits at more than 20 trade shows each year. At our exhibits, books are displayed for industry professionals to review and purchase. We also distribute catalogs and collect names and addresses for future promotional mailings. Often we have authors in our booths to autograph books and answer questions.
What is the cost to you?
Nothing! PennWell provides a complete marketing package for your book as part of our contract with you. To duplicate this effort on your own would cost thousands of dollars. And we start working on selling your book almost as soon as your agreement is signed.
